Warner Bros. announced that Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita platforms. The game is basically a spin-off of the Batman: Arkham Origins game which is set to come to the PS3, XBox 360 and Wii U.
Arkham Origins Blackgate will be a 2.5D game similar to Metroid. The Arkham Origins' plot is said to be a prequel to the first two Arkham games (City and Asylum), Blackgate will take place in a different time which is after the console version.
The game will take advantage of the 3D nature of the game, allowing Batman to interact with both foreground and background. It will use a freeflow combat system, and button taps similar to Arkham games. There will be a checkpoint system but players will also be able to save their progress whenever they want.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita is scheduled for release on October 25th, the same day as the console versions. The game is in development by Armature Studio.
