A new Sonic game called "Sonic Boom", which comes from a new branch of the Sonic the Hedgehog universe will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
In Sonic Boom, the visual identity of the characters will be tailored more to their abilities and personalities. For example, Tails will be wearing sporting goggles while Sonic will be wearing a scarf.
Sonic Boom is the third installment as part of SEGA's agreement with Nintendo to release Sonic games exclusively on their platforms. The development for the 3DS version will be handheld by Sanzaru Games, the same company responsible for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time which was released for the Vita.
So what is the reason behind all the new look? John Cheng, President & COO, SEGA of America has something to say:
"We want to ensure that the Sonic brand continues to evolve and appeal to new generations of Sonic fans and this different look introduces a fresh approach that will be at once both familiar and new to consumers.
We are committed to supporting this initiative to provide great entertainment to fans for all aspects of their lives."
