Creator of Megaman and Mighty No. 9 Keiji Inafune announced today a new exclusive 3DS title called Azure Striker Gunvolt.
The game is described to be a "high speed, high action 2D side-scrolling action adventure game". Azure Striker Gunvolt is set in the near future. A group called Sumeragi is interested in a new psychic power that has recently emerged. The group try to make it appear like they are helping those that possess the power, but the reality is that they are holding concentration camps and performing experiments on the captives.
As the 14-year-old boy hero named Gunvolt, you are part of a group called Feather that is resisting Sumeragi. You are equipped with a conductor gun and the ability to control lightning.
The lightning works as a secondary weapon and power-up. Aside from being able to wear down enemies, the lightning is also used in platforming and gives Gunvolt the ability to levitate.
Inafune is currently working with Inti Creates in bringing us this game. According to Destructoid, Inti is also working with Nintendo in order to finish the game quickly.
Azure Striker Gunvolt is slated for release this summer via Nintendo 3DS eShop.
