Treasurenauts Coming To Nintendo 3DS eShop, First Details Revealed

Treasurenauts
From the makers of Mutant Mudds, Renegade Kid is creating another game called Treasurenauts for the Nintendo 3DS.

Nintendo Force magazine, through some interview with  Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watshamreveals, revealed some details about the game.

Treasurenauts are a varied band of heroes, adventurers, and misfits, with at least 8 unique characters. Some of the characters however, need to be unlocked.

There seems to be two tiers in the character selection process. The first tier is purely cosmetic, and doesn't affect the actualy gameplay. The second tier allows you to choose between sword, firearm, and bomb weapon types. Weapons of course have some pros and cons, one being stronger than the other for example but having shorter range and attack rate. You know how it goes.

The game will feature a 2D art style just like Mutant Mudds, which is more of a 16-bit style rather than 8-bit or 12-bit. Renegade Kid however looks into providing a different gameplay experience.

The game will use a treasure map as the world map. The world map will be similar to Super Mario World where you can navigate and access different levels. New levels are unlocked as you finish the current one. Certain situations may prevent the players from progressing however, until a new ability, power-up or teammate comes in.

Treasurenauts will support local multiplayer and download play. Some secret areas can only be accessed by working together with a friend. If you're impatient and don't like to be kept waiting, you don't have to wait for your friend on the same level and you can progress independently.

There will be bosses in the game. Defeating them earns you new abilities such as double jump.

Your character's health is tied to your in-game wealth. Getting hit by an enemy makes you lose some of your treasures, which can be recovered if you move fast enough before they disappear.

The game will have multiple endings and which ending you get is determined by how wealthy you are in the game.

Renegade Kid is aiming for a Quarter 4 release of the game on the Nintendo eShop.
