What We Know So Far About Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS

Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS
One of Nintendo's significant reveals during the latest E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) is Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U which are named as is. Here's what we caught about the game during the whole event.

The 3DS graphics uses an outlined style graphics so they can be easily seen from far-away. As with previous Smash Bros. games, each player have their own unique system, or fighting abilities.

Some of the new introduction to the game are Capcom's Mega Man, The Villager from Animal Crossing and... Well, the Wii Fit Trainer. Yes, the female character in Wii Fit Trainer. Fortunately, the same number of characters is the same for both the 3DS and Wii U versions, so no one will feel left out.

Some of the old character's aesthetics have been upgraded. Bowser is standing more upright this time for example compared to the Wii Version. Samus now look closer to her Metroid: Other M version and Pitt looks like his Kid Icarus: Uprising version. Other characters revealed so far are Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Kirby, Fox, and Pikachu.

An obvious difference between the two systems though are the available levels. For the Nintendo 3DS, the stages available are more based on the games that appeared on handheld games, while the Wii U gets more console-based levels.

The 3DS and Wii U versions will have a sense of connectivity, such as being able to customize a character on the 3DS and bringing those customization to the Wii U version. However, there won't be any cross-play feature between the two versions for reasons of them being different games.

There are also no plans to support DLC (Downloadable Content) in the game. The tripping feature, which has been considered to be a frustrating element in Smash Bros. Brawl has also been removed. In an interview with IGN, Sakurai said:
"At the current time we have no plans, I consider my job at this point, and my main responsibility, to make the Wii U and 3DS versions the best and the fullest experience possible. That said, once finished, it's the type of thing we could take into consideration, but for now, you could consider DLC as not being in the cards."
Ironically for both systems supporting touch controls, both versions won't be supporting them for balancing purposes. If you have played Street Fighter on the 3DS during its launch, there was serious balancing issues

Lastly, it's possible that both games might not be released at the same time. As to which game is being delayed, there is no concrete answer as of now. However, one of the difficulties the Super Smash Bros. team is having has something to do with the 3DS being able to handle characters with more than one fighter, such as the Ice Climbers.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U was directed by Masahiro Sakurai of Sora Ltd., who is having some problems with his arm as he is directing the game. You can check on the games' official website here.

Well that's all we got so far. Stay tuned for more updates about Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
