CounterSpy Hitting The PlayStation 3 And Vita This Year

CounterSpy (PlayStation 3, Vita)
Dynamighty's CounterSpy will be hitting the PlayStation 3 and Vita this year. In CounterSpy, you play as an elite member of C.O.U.N.T.E.R. Your goal is to infiltrate and sabotage the armed forces of two opposing Super Powers that threaten the existence of humanity. You'll be raiding their bases, and prevent them from launching their weapons of mass destruction against each other.

As you get to steal collection of blueprints from these two parties, you'll be able to unlock prototype weapons that you can use at your disposal.

David Nottingham, the game's Lead Designer and co-founder of Dynamighty said that classic side-scrolling games inspired them to create CounterSpy.
"At Dynamighty, we are huge fans of side-scrollers and CounterSpy is our love letter to the genre. These are some of the classic games that shaped our childhood: Flashback, Out of this World, Impossible Mission, Metroid, and more recently, the awesome Shadow Complex. We’re inspired to deliver something that brings our own voice to the genre."
The game uses a 50s/60s cold war theme for the graphics. The art style is also aligned with the company's vision to build games around themes and settings that they love and inspired them across movies, TV, music or literature.

While the CounterSpy is essentially a single player game, Dynamighty is working on ways to let players compete with each other, going beyond the traditional high scores list. They also have a plan to support cross-platform play between the PlayStation 3 and Vita on future updates.

The game is slated for release this year for the PlayStation 3 and Vita. Pricing has not been announced as of this time.
