Launching the software shows you how many tries you have left before the demo expires. A beautiful game menu presentation will greet you once you start the game. During the first time you play the game, only normal mode is available in the difficulty settings. You'll be able to access the hard more once you've completed the demo once.
The game starts with Jill Valentine waking up in a room as shown in early previews of the game. For the impatient, the cinematic can be skipped by pressing start.
Control uses the analog stick to move and drawing your gun puts you on first person mode by default. Drawing your knife on the other hand only puts Jill on a stabbing animation. Interestingly, the walls deflect Jill's hand when you stab on them. For those who hate to shoot on first person mode, the camera can be changed through the options to shoot in third person mode (which I also like better)
The weapons menu is easily accessible through the bottom screen, making switching through different gun weapons a breeze. It's also possible to switch weapons by only using the DPad. Also, very early in the game you'll be exposed to several gimmicks such as solving puzzles with the touchscreen controls.
When you're low on energy, some blood stain covers the screen and the environment gradually changes to black and white as you lose more life.
The graphics is just freaking amazing! The 3D is great, perhaps the best I've experienced on the 3DS so far. I think this is the first game I've played where I always wanted the 3D on. The 3D can be intensified even more on through the game options depending on your tolerance.
We will save the rest of what we've seen in the game until we could get our hands on the full version (you can send us a copy, Capcom). For now, we highly suggest that you connect to the Internet (or search for the nearest Coffee shop that has one) and download the demo.
Resident Evil Revelations is definitely making it to my early list of purchase this 2012. Current and future game developers planning on developing for the 3DS definitely have a lot to learn from Capcom.
