PlayStation Vita Indie Games Category Goes Live On PSN

PlayStation Vita Indie Games Category
A new category has been added on PlayStation Vita on PSN that groups together all the indie games released on the handheld. According to SCEA Director of Product Planning and Platform Software Innovation, Don Mesa, "This will help PS Vita owners discover the latest indie games".

A similar category was added to the PlayStation 3 last month, while it arrived alongside the release of Hotline Miami for the Vita.

Sony anticipates the release of even more Indie games during the coming months including Spelunky, Terraria, Flower, Luftrausers, Hohokum, and Counter-Spy. Sony also boasts that at least 50 indie titles currently in development for PS Vita, and that there are many more to come.

Currently, the Indie Games category has LIMBO, Guacamelee!, Sound Shapes, Machinarium, and Thomas Was Alone. There will be 53 indie games in the category at launch.

Sony expressed their support for indie development, recognizing that their contributions will help the success of the gaming industry.
"At PlayStation, we’re proud to support indie development, and our unrestrictive policies make it easier than ever for developers to launch games on PS Vita. We recognize that the unique perspective that indie developers deliver contributes to the success and future of the gaming industry. And we’ve learned as much from working with talented indie developers over the last several years as (we hope) they have learned from us."
